This program is still development stage, we are running a pilot program this fall at Henry Monroe Middle School.
Youth in this program start an agricultural based business! They choose a product (from a list of possibles), research, market, brand, sell, learn bookkeeping, and so much more!
At the end of the program period (4 months), the books get balanced - youth "pay back" their start up loans and the balance goes to first a party (!) and then donate to a charity of their choice.
Examples of products made in previous programs: Jams, Jellies, Bread Mixes, Pickles, Dehydrated Soup Mixes, Salad Dressings, and so much more!
This program will run on a weekly basis for four months twice a year (September to December) and (March to June). Each session is approximately 90 minutes in length with a maximum of 15 youth per session. While we are still finishing up some details for this program, we expect the costs to come in somewhere around $125/month (this includes all supplies and handouts).
